Money Means? - Study 2
General Background
This week we concluded the two week series called "Money Means?”
The aim in doing this series is because we all feel the effects of the increase in the cost of living and the pressures that come as a result of that increasing cost we want to:
1. Bring order to disorder
2. Understand God's heart
3. Buy into generosity
Specific Questions
1. In Deuteronomy 15:7 the Bible talks about not being hard hearted or tightfisted. How do you demonstrate this in your daily life?
2. In Acts 2:44-45 followers of Jesus in the New Testament were spoken of as a people who "shared" everything - particularly money with those in need. What is the difference between this practise and the one Troy referred to from the Old Testament?
3. To what extent does this statement ring true for you - God is provider and he provides through us to others?
4. 1 Corinthians 16:1 suggests we should plan for giving. How do you plan for giving? Do you have a budget? How did you go about creating a budget? As Matt mentioned in the interview (and the Barefoot Investor suggests) they have different buckets in their budget? Have you ever thought about having different buckets in your budget for different uses?
5. What does it mean for you to remember the giver (2 Corinthians 8:9)? What difference does this make to you in relation to your finances?
6. What does it mean to live according to your means? What would you need to change in order to do this in your situation and context?
7. Re-read 2 Corinthians 8:14. What does this say to you? What do you need to keep in mind as you budget and as you give?
8. In 2 Corinthians 9:8 Paul talks about God providing generously what does this principle mean to you? How does this effect the way you live and give?
Take some time to pray for financial needs of the group.

6. If we thought about our money habits like the movement of water… would your habits be
Like a wave - impulse buy – catch the wave and ride it for all its worth;
like a dam – save, save, save, with a little trickle of water out at the bottom;
Nile: go with the flow and spend away.
Would that be different if you were to think of God as provider?
