Specific QuestionsThis week we continued our series on prayer.

  1. There are times when we can be content in our circumstances and there are also times when we are not content and can get frustrated in the time of waiting - where do you find yourself when things aren't going the way you hoped and you have to wait? Does waiting patiently come naturally to you? Share an experience of when you encountered God in your circumstance which brought at least a level of contentment to you.
  2. How do you see God? What do you see of his character? Megan shared the picture of the magpie and noted that it is when you look a magpie in the face and get to know him that familiarity and relationship comes. How do you do this with God? Have you ever asked, God how do I see you?
  3. There are times when opening your hand and saying to God "your Kingdom come" is one of the best things you can do. Share an example when you have done this?
  4. Are there any situations in your life where you need to open your hand to him?
  5. When Megan mentioned releasing unforgiveness - what came to mind for you? Maybe we should ask who came to mind for you?
  6. Megan mentioned that forgiving someone means that you might say to God I choose to forgive ___ for ___ . I release them from the debt they owe me. Can you pray that prayer? Why/ why not?
  7. In doing this it opens the way for God to bring healing. Where in your life do you need healing right now?
  8. Megan showed us the picture below and asked what step could I take as a result of opening my hand to God? Where do I need to open my hand to God and perhaps allow God to work in my life?

Specific QuestionsThis week we began to explore a new series on prayer.

  1. One of the things we notice about Jesus and prayer is that Jesus prayed and things happened - healed the sick, calmed the storm etc.  Describe a time when you prayed and something happened?
  2. When we look at Jesus he opened his arms to God and what God was wanting to do. Ali used the term "keep company with God" - what do you think that means? How do you keep company with God?
  3. Jesus Prayed and he believed prayer matters. When did you first decide that prayer matters - what was it that caused you to come to this conclusion? 
  4. John 17 is the longest of Jesus prayers in the Bible. what aspects of this prayer could you incorporate into your daily prayer life?
  5. Ali mentioned the main reasons people struggle to pray? What are the main reasons people in your group struggle with prayer - ie busyness, tired, apathy, doubt, don't know how, guilt, shame etc?
  6. How do people in your group engage in prayer? Have they ever been to a prayer gathering?  Why/ why not?
  7. What are the things that might help people to engage more in prayer?
