Divorce Care

At New Community we choose to be a church where people are welcome, loved, seen and safe. If you are experiencing the pain, turmoil or isolation of divorce, our hope is that through meeting with others and encountering the God of compassion and hope, that you can journey to healing and connection. We recognise that divorce marks the formal end of a marriage, yet for most the marriage has been breaking for far longer than this final moment. Because of this, we believe healing takes time — and deserves gentle, ongoing care.
We don't want you to go through this alone.
Here are some ways that you can find support.

The Divorce Care Course
We are running the Divorce Care Course as part of our desire to offer support, connection and guidance.
See details for the Divorce Care Course in Events/Wellbeing. We are trialling this course, it has been recommended to us by some of our church family who have found it helpful. If you would like to be part of this trial, whether you are recently divorced or have been for some years now, we would love you to join us.
We recognise that the course is long - 15 weeks - so this is part of what we will be assessing.
It begins on Tuesday July 29th - all the details and registration are in Events

Flying Solo
Flying Solo is a network that welcomes women of all ages who are single or partnered and are doing their faith journey alone. It both runs events and provides support and has been a healing place for many women who are divorced. See the Flying Solo information on this app in the Events section.
What Does The Bible Say?
We have included (coming soon!) in this section a conversation about what we, the leadership of New Community, believe the Bible says about Divorce. A lot of harm has been done by teaching on this topic either keeping people in damaging marriages or completely devaluing marriage. We believe God is passionate about marriage and that He Himself is a divorcee - the Bible says so - and offers compassion and grace to all those experiencing divorce.
