LIVE STREAM - Setup Guide

Here is a brief guide on how to set-up our live stream for Sunday mornings.

1

Set-up Connections
There are 5 devices to connect cables for:
1. Computer - the power extension cord.
2. Camera - the powered battery pack and the micro-HDMI
3. Laptop - the HDMI
4. Sound Desk - the audio cable
5. Overflow TV - the white network cable
Once all connected and you've turned on all the devices, you will need to set them up in OBS.

2

Set-up Laptop in OBS
The laptop video signal is sent via a HDMI cable. This signal is split to both the projectors and to the livestream computer. Inside the computer a device called a 'capture card' tricks the computer into thinking it is a webcam. We need to turn off any copyright protections in the capture card program.

3

Set-up BlackMagic in OBS
The video from the camera and the audio from the sound desk come into the BlackMagic device. We need to make sure we are receiving both audio and video signals in OBS.

4

Set-up Overflow TV in OBS
We need to turn on the TV in the overflow area, then send video from OBS and audio from the Voice Meter app to the TCL Smart TV in the overflow area.

Once all of the devices are set-up and the audio and video has been checked, we need to send out the stream.

5

We need to get the stream key from Facebook and put it into OBS, we also need to setup the title and description of the stream and set the comment settings to 'Restricted'. Then we start the stream in OBS and Go Live from facebook.

Troubleshooting

BlackMagic

No Sound?
If you are getting sound on the BlackMagic screen, but it isn't receiving it in OBS, then turn the BlackMagic on and off by unplugging the power at the top of the back of the unit.
If you are not receiving sound on the BlackMagic screen, talk to the sound desk person as the desk isn't sending it through.
Blank Video?
If you are getting picture on the BlackMagic screen, but nothing in OBS or the screen in OBS has frozen, then you will need to 'deactivate' the camera source in OBS, then 'activate' it again. You can also this by going to the source settings and changing the device to a different camera, then changing back to the BlackMagic.

Overflow TV

Troubles with the the overflow TV?
If you are not getting signal to the overflow TV (either you have sent it from OBS and nothing happens or you cant see the TV in OBS or Voice Meter) then you will first need to check all of the connections for the transmitter and the receiver.

If that doesn't solve the problem, then you will need to turn off/on the transmitter and receiver by unplugging them. If you do this, you will likely need to also re-check your connection with the BlackMagic.

Camera

Camera Info Showing in OBS?
In the menu of the camera, under the camera menu (red), on page 3, there is a setting called 'HDMI Info Display'. Set this to 'Clean FHD'.

Camera picture too dark/light?
You will need to alter the camera settings. Ideally seek out Nic Cheah, Joel Cormack, Matt Yeates, Peter Bergmeier or Sian Rutherford.
