What's All This Advent Stuff About?

Advent is the time of year when we prepare ourselves, our hearts and minds to receive the gift of Jesus, God with us, born at Christmas. We often get caught up in the busyness of the year and give little thought to God.
So...
We like to help people remember God throughout Advent and so each year we give a gift and ideas of what we can choose.
Our theme this year is Open Hand, having an open hand to God and to others. Imagine the possibilities as we do this.

So what are we giving you?

A chatterbox - transformed into a Christmas star! As a child we used to play with chatterboxes, opening and closing our hands, to see what possibilities lay within, who might we marry, did we smell? What fun we had!! When we open our hands there are many possibilities, most likely not answering those same childhood questions!! So hang the chatterbox somewhere you can see it, as a reminder to open you hand this advent.
There are other pages here on the app with lots of ideas of different ways you might like to open your hand to God or to others this Advent.

What about for families?

We are giving families a chatterbox pack- their chatterboxes actually work!!
Make a different chatterbox for each week of advent. Write some of the ideas from the Open Hand Ideas for Families page or your own ideas under the flaps using some for open hand to God and some for open hand to others.  Each day take it in turns to use the chatterbox and take on the challenge set before you. Best be wise about what ideas you choose, knowing your limitations for the week!
Have fun!
